Popping into the nucleus
Radioactive
decay is an unpredictable, spontaneous and irreversible process that our minds
are not always happy to assimilate. But our refusal to understand the nature of
such phenomenon melts down if we stablish some kind of friendship with this
concept. We become more willing to understand it after sharing a movie on a
Friday night…
We are talking of popcorns!
The aim of this project is to convert radioactivity into a party of kernels popping enthusiastically. Surprisingly, the process of making popcorns displays a great scientific similarity with radioactive decay. We want to take advantage of this and elaborate a metaphor between radioactivity and popcorns which enables people to understand without struggles the concept of radioactive decay.
